The latter has retired to small German town occupied exclusively by men with larger than average hands.

He has also changed his name to Hans, as per the towns bylaws.

He’s settled in quite well, apparently. Even though most of the other Hans thinks he’s a ****.

Well, it’s what he always wanted.
