For a new summer road bike build..
What’s good? – light, but bombproof would be ideal.

Depends on your budget but Hunt 4 season disc work for me. Under 1.6kg the pair.

Budget? Less than £500 I reckon should do it?

If I was buying instead of building I would consider these.

Pacenti/Archetype on Hope are a strong bet.

I’ve done a year on my Mavic Ksyrium Pro Disc’s in some pretty crap conditions and a fair bit of off road, not cheap, but I’m pleased with the way they’ve stood up to the beating they’ve had.
Oop’s just seen the bit about the budget.

If you’re building some wheels then the new Shimano CX75 Ultegra level disc hubs have the new digital click bearing adjustment (i.e. bearings adjustable by hand 8) ) which I think is brilliant, means perfect bearing tension and no faffing about with cone spanners or bashing cartridge bearings in and out of your light weight hubs.

I plan to build some up onto Pacentis or similar with DT Revs, think it would come in at just over 1600g and £450ish

Have spokesman.co.uk build me some Novatech hubs wih H Plus Son Archetypes – probably not the absolute lightest but bombproof and certainly light enough in 24 spoke.
