Good to hear he’s OK, gave us a bit of a scare!

Great day out, thanks to the coaches and riders.

Were there any plans for Steve to upload/distribute the video footage he was shooting?

Seems a hell of a lot of punters are getting injured at these events, giving quite a lot of fodder to the ‘turn down the gnarrrrrrrr’ advocates.

And also something to show those who said it was too easy. There are definitely bits that need taming before the untrained public ride it.

Great day – I’d also like to thank the coaches and the rest of the riders. We had a sound bunch who were happy to encourage and support – nobody felt pressured to try anything they weren’t comfortable with.

I’m glad Paul is okay – we’ve all had those ‘why did I do that’ moments, and it could have happened to any one of us.

Goot – I share your thoughts on the plumbs, though it’s fine to have bigger ones if you have the ability to match (and I don’t!). That was easily the most technical piece of riding I’ve done, eclipsing anything I’ve come across at a UK trail centre.

Had a great day, thanks to Tom and all the other guys.

Like everyone else I was amazed at how challenging it was compared to how it looks on TV. bit out of my depth at the start but I definitely sprouted a small pair by the end of the day.

Glad Paul is okay, it brought back memories of my past ‘doh!’ moments.

    triple trouble??

Surprisingly triple trouble didn’t take too many victims. The one I found the toughest to tackle was the monument(?) – the one after triple trouble. There was only one line that we were advised to take, and getting it wrong resulted in some nasty looking offs (though all got up relatively unscathed).

Good to meet you all at the weekend!. The level of progression was awesome. I’m off down there today for the meeting with the council and Architrail. I’ll report back later with the verdict on the course changes etc. judgement day today!

I’ve got one of these booked. I too have noticed that pretty much every write up involves some level of personal injury.

what are the conditions like down there?

Goot – what was the damage to Paul and what did he wish he didn’t do?

Triple trouble isn’t too bad. Its more a test of bravery than anything else. I think the B line is harder.

The problem is that all the features invlove big rocks. Any fall is likely to hurt….

Conditions are good at the moment! Hard pack and frozen ground. The rocks aren’t slippery at all.

Just got back from the meeting with the council and legacy as well as architrail which will be revamping the course.

This is the the truthful trustworthy plan of hadleigh and no rumour. Everything will be staying apart from monument as this is built over a protected heritage site. All of the hard lines will be made so there is an obstacle for you to tackle before you get to it, so if you can’t do the obstacle you can’t get onto the line, say an awkward step of rocks at slow speed as an example. The rocks are are awkwardly placed, and are there to take you out which actually make no difference in riding the course will either be replaced or changed so they don’t cause huge accidents.

The track will flow into the easy c lines at all times and those riders that wish to ride the harder lines will be forced to tackle the awkward line or obstacle into the more series of lines, A or B.
The easier lines which are in place now will be more bermed and smoother and generally a lot more fun to ride as it as built as a race track now and less of a trail centre.

So everyone can chill out with the fact that all of the awkward technical sections are staying. They might be a bit more challenging to get to but this should hopefully make it a bit safer for the riders that aren’t up to those sections. It also means a lot more of an enjoyable ride if you just want to bomb round some flowy berms and stuff. All in all I’m very very excited for this, I’ll hopefully be building with architrail too in my days off so expect some updates when building starts. It should hopefully be starting May time with all the paperwork that needs sorting.

There is also going to be black (current A lines), red, blue and even some green trails and extra sections added on to the loop. Also a pump track with tarmac berms, skills area etc as well as the cafe, toilets, showers, bike shop etc.

Finally a trail centre close to london and over the east side of the country!

Here are some pictures from this mornings walk on the trust iphone. And they haven’t been edited through instagram before you ask haha

    Evenin all.

Paul suffered a broken wrist, damage to shoulder muscles and a dose of concession, he is out of hospital and recoperating.

Was done on one of easier sections, simple off, just landed badly on soft grass.

If I know Paul……. It won’t put him off trying again.
