Anyone got any tips how to get a good firm bleed on a set of guide r’s? 1st bleed today and still a little spongy.

If you’re expecting them to feel as solid as a Shimano XT, they never do, but that’s because they have more modulation…

Top tip, when you’ve bled em, put a ziptie over the lever pulling it into the bar, and leave it like that over night. Bounce the bike a few times (all the bubbles will rise to the top of the system) and when you take the zipties off in the morning, they’ll feel as good as they’re ever gonna get…

It usually makes a big difference if you make sure the caliper pistons are moving freely too, allow them to come out past their normal travel, and push them all the way back in a few times. They’re normally a bit sticky straight out of the box, often to the extent that you’ll feel a sudden release point through the lever as they let go (be careful not to push them too far though,or they’ll pop out).

SO the rear caliber is mounted in frame meaning the bleed port is below the highest point in the caliper.

Taking caliper of the frame and letting it hang in the right alignment (bleed port at top) for 30min or so and a few taps to disturb any stubborn bubbles helped a lot, now nice and firm
