  • Great trial tyres for Stans Flow rims?

    Hey,

got some Knobby nics, but it takes some downhill levers to get them off and I keep pinching innertubes when I put them on…. Got a bit silly.

Looking for some 2.35 size tyres that’ll do the job like the nics, but actually come off the rim.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    Rob

This, it’s true. I found stand rims to be a complete pig, especially with Schwalbe tyres (if you want to get really annoyed, try the supergravity versions!) They’re still a pig to get on the rim tubeless but they bead up nicely and then you don’t need to worry about it.

Maxxis EXO TR in your choice of tread pattern (I Like Minions, Ardents and Crossmarks) set up tubeless.

Maxxis Minion front and rear (dual ply on the back if you’re a clumsy as me.
One-one chunkymonkey good on the front.
Definitely go tubeless if you suffer pinchflats regularly.

On One & Spesh tyres go up particulary lovely tubeless on Flows.

Never had a problem with Maxxis on Flows (tube or tubeless).

Ok, now what version do I need… Don’t want super tacky downhill things…

Found out the hard way with a swamp thing! Amazing down in the wet, but no going up!

Conversely, my NN fell straight on to a set of Flows, but I snapped tyre levers and spent a whole evening trying to lever the last few inches of Maxxis HR2’s on to the same Flows. No hope of stans juice staying in there when it came down to that brute force.
(And the same Maxxis and Schwalbe fitted with ease on the Mavic rims)
edit: and yes I do know about having to get the bead right in the middle.

    Saying that, Maxxis HR2’s.
