Bit chilly first-thing (one-degree according to the car's thermometer) and during course-marking, but it soon warmed-up a tad and was a great day for racing up on Ashton Court. Quite a taxing course: a longish slog, a stony climb, some gnadgery rootyness, sweeping bends, pink uphill hurdles, fast'n'bumpy straights, and some bone-dry fast singletrack. In fact the course was SO dry I didn't recognise it in places :O)
53 riders in the SVWJ's race today – something of a record for an Ashton Court CX race if previous years are anything to go by. Thanks to the conditions the racing was fast, and was made faster by a few visiting riders from the Wessex League. There were a few spills, pinch-flats and dented rims but thankfully nothing as serious as the broken collar-bone of last year.
A big thanks to ALL those Bristolians and LVIS types who took part today. An excellent showing! I hope you all enjoyed it.
Any feedback on the course or the event gratefully received.
