This won’t work in all situations, but if the bearing is flush with the hub body on the disc side, screw some long M5 bolts in the disc bolt holes like this…

And now you’ve got something solid to hit against, easier than trying to hold the hub central over a big socket.

Very well, but why would you even consider changing bearings without cleaning the hub/wheel first?

Because cleaning is utterly irrelevant to the bearings?

I’d be scared of cracking the disc bolt tabs doing that, they’re not designed to take loads like that, at least with a big socket the whole of the hub shell is supported while you wack it with a hammer..

a minute each side with shot air gun,bearing drops out, new one drops in…no damage,no hammer..Ps. do not pick up old bearing!

+1, some of the bearings I’ve removed have taken a hell of a lot of hammering to shift.
