Dog ran off during morning walk this morning and it took me ages to find him. Not helped by the fact that it was still pretty dark and he’s mostly black, but he does need his runs off the lead, being a sighthound. It occurs to me one these new fangled tags might help, has anyone used them, even if not on pets. He’s likely to never be more than half a mile from me, but could easily be more than the 400ft range of the Loc8tor pet collar in the shops, since he does 100m in about five seconds.

My DofE group are using tracking devices that use the GSM network from Mapyx. we give each group a device, they go on their expedition and we sit in the campsite (or pub) with the laptop and watch them in real time on a OS map on Quo!

crikey, that’s a hell of distance!

my sister just used an led collar on her dog on dark mornings but it tended to stay in the same county as her.
