The beadcrumb trail on my Edge 200 really isn’t cutting it so I’ve decided I need an upgrade to my GPS to be able to explore/follow new routes. The Edge 800 is out of budget so after a bit of reasearch I’ve narrowed it down to the Garmins, Dakota 20 or Edge 30.

Both are comparable in price and functions, the Dakota has a bigger screen and is touchscreen but is bulkier and apparently the display can be hard to read. The Etrex is joystick controlled and is smaller but so is the screen.

I’ll be using it primarily for road use, creating routes on the PC and downloading to the unit.

Does anyone own or has used both and could give some hands on opinion of which would be better suited for my purposes ?

    Thanks

    Jim

I have a Dakota 20 and I can’t say I’ve found the screen to be a problem other than in direct sunlight.
