It seems a strange one as back in the UK I don’t remember any company not closing offices as it’s a public holiday (and always has been when I have been working) The flip side was all the shift guys were all still in and working and everything carried on as normal. Shops etc. all open and anywhere that you would want to spend your money.
In contrast here in Tassie everything was shut, my missus was one of the few working yesterday as the only vet on, and the LBS has closed down for stock take and refit as it’s a quiet time. The good beer bar was open though but nowhere near as busy as a normal friday so I guess the mindset here is different. Still all open again today and back to normal.
