    Preferably:

    * contemporary fiction or a really good true story
    * action/thriller/murder/mystery
    * based in the UK with UK characters
    * not part of a series

    Cheers folks

    Jake Arnott’s Long Firm Trilogy would fit your bill, only loosely a “series”.

    B.S. Johnson – Christie Malry’s Own Double-Entry.

    It’s not quite contemporary but is well suited to these times.
