With an Alps trip on the horizon I’ve decided to lose the big ring.
I have XT cranks – my plan is to put a Blackspire Stinger on and go double up front.
Pretty sure it’s a 32T middle…should I swap for a 36T at this stage so less chance of spinning out?
If I stick with the 32 middle should I get a 32 (equivalent diameter) bash to replace the 44 outer, or go with a 36 so its a wider diameter then the 32 middle. Similarly if I go 36 middle, should I get a 36 (equivalent diameter) bash or a 40?
Want to buy now – just need a bit of reassurance 🙂

Can’t really say what chainring to use, you will only find out by experience, I am happy to stick to 32t on both my 2×9 bikes, might be better to buy a bigger bashring just in case you do want to go up, 36t should be fine with 32t chainring.

One problem I had was with xt m770 cranks & raceface bash which rubbed against the chain & i had to make some spacers to fit between crank spider & bash ring.
