I seem to have spent half my adult life in traffic jams in Glossop on the way to and returning from Wales and other places.

If I head across the Snake Pass to get to Glossop for just after 5:15 , is it going to be guaranteed absolutely horrendous?

I need to get to Lancaster from Sheffield and the earliest I can leave is 16:15. The alternative is oop the M1 then across the M62 to Manchester then up.

I’d leave it till later before setting off, and not just for the glossop bit. The m67/60/61 has the potential to be as bad/worse than mottram hill.

M1 and across the 60 then 61 again, you go through some mega traffic hot spots.

I’d leave it until at least 6 maybe 7 ish before setting off.

The problem is that we have mini RRR with us and a late bedtime in a strange house (visiting friends) could equate to an apopoleptic melt down when we arrive …
