I did a cracker of a ride yesterday up Beinn a Ghlo. 3 munros along the ridge heading from east to west with a wonderfully steep and loose descent off Carn Liath at the end of the ride. A true Scottish mountain bike classic with the quality of the trails and views more than making up for the initially tough hike a bike. It’s been one of those rides I’ve been looking at for years and despite the at times drizzily weather we had, it was a terrific day out on the hills – not an epic but a great day out none the less. A ride for the hike a bike afficianado for sure and definitely one to return to on a fine summer's day.
Anyhoos, while we were up, we spotted a Land Rover track and singletrack descent up to and off the munro Carn a Chlamain dropping down into Glen Tilt. It looks like a relatively easy to bag a munro with the reward of a singletrack descent off the summit. Has anyone ridden this? The map promises good things and from looking accross the valley, I reckon the singletrack has the potential for greatness. It’s now on the radar as a shorter day out but I’d be keen to hear from anyone who has done it. It could be linked up to a Glen Tilt circuit to make for a bigger day out.
Cheers
Sanny
