    Or if you’re small, as Mrs North is (4’10”).

    My daughter will be similarly small, and has bright red hair from me. At some point (no doubt secondary school), she’ll get stick for some or all of these things. I’m making sure that she’s brought up to be immune to others’ irrational prejudices and to learn to be proud of who she is.

    (On the theme of prejudices we still seem to be socially keen on and happy to share, let’s not forget: the fat, the less intelligent, the highly intelligent, being a goth, coming from Birmingham or Liverpool….)

    It was more of a thing till a) Mick Hucknall faded out of the public eye a bit and was replaced with the current face of red heads Julianne Moore, Emma Stone (ok not natural but her best hair colour), Karen G as above, Damian Lewis etc.
