Evenin’ all.
Following today’s (only!) puncture, I put the tyre back on with a shiny new tube, and pumped up to the required pressure. For the rest of the ride, I had a ‘lump’ in the tyre, and on inspection it looks like the tyre bead isn’t sitting in the hook of the rim at one point. No amount of letting down and re-inflating (to any pressure) will encourage it to seat correctly. I can change the location of the ‘bad bit’, as well as it’s profile from a low-spot to a sideways wobble, but can’t get a 100% straight tyre.
This is an almost new non-tubeless Rocket Ron with a new Kenda tube, but mounted on a Crank Bros tubeless rim, which I guess has a more aggressive hook to take a tubeless bead.
Anybody else had similar, and any suggestions to get it to ‘pop’. Initial fitting went fine, it’s only happened since I took it off today. New tube is a Kenda, old one was a Maxxis, if that makes a difference.
Oh, and I won’t be going fully tubeless on this one, so don’t bother suggesting that…
