every time i want to fit a new BB i start looking at buying the tool, but then i think its a bit of expensive kit for a infrequent job and i always swear the next one will be threaded again but never is…. anyway a fella flogging a ghetto one on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bottom-Bracket-press-fit-tool-/201663790152?hash=item2ef4193c48:g:RLcAAOSwepZXSMI6 looks alright but may as well botch one together myself…

anyone care to share their top tips and experiences?

I use a vice for mine. I’d happily rubber mallet them though. BB92, if that makes any difference.

Get down to your local hardware store and pick up the bits, it’ll cost you about as much as buying that one off Ebay.
