The handle end of an old toothbrush is my high tech solution.

    What he said!

I have a novel toothbrush styled Shimano compatible piston reset tool I could sell you for a tenner.

A big screwdriver. Or a tyre lever.

A plastic tyre lever works – thicker ones like Parks are good. Be careful with Shimano ceramic pistons and screwdrivers…

Wooden clothes peg, disassembled, gives you two opposing wedges, works on Hopes so unless your Shimano are too oriental… 🙂

Sharp metal tool plus ceramic piston equals possible expensive mistake. Stick an old set of pads in to protect the pistons and job’s a goodun.

Get into the habit of levering them apart with a screwdriver before removing the pads….

Used my car key this weekend when I had accidently pulled the front lever with the wheel removed….
