Just touched the VGA socket on my laptop, got a tingling through my fingers!

On further investigation – if I touch the outside of the power plug which is meant to be 20V, I get a similar shock. And that’s only touching one of the terminals.

I feel as if the PSU has developed a dangerous fault – sound right?

    Possibly.
Or the laptop and psu is fine, and you’re sitting on a sofa connected to the mains and are getting the earth return through the laptop.

Or you’re wearing nylon panties, been looking at the wrong websites and all that rubbing has given you a big static charge that you’ve just discharged through the laptop.

just been reading your “W8 doesn’t start up properly” thread – presumably startup is quite stressful on discs/processors (and so might expose PSU/earth faults) ??

… are you wearing nylon panties? – be careful if a thunderstorm comes by
