Trek Fuel EX9 WSD Trail bike (metallic blue anodised).
Carbon bars and seat post. Mostly XT parts.
Like this but with black parts on rear triangle.
2005 bike bought by us new from Evans Cycles 28/08/06
Top of the women's specific range at the time with an RRP of £2200!
Tried the 16” but it was surprisingly too small so this is the women's 18” version which measured up like a men's 16” in Marin & Scott.
Exact same colour as the non WSD and seems only differences were a shorter stem and top tube, female friendly saddle and the WSD versions came with gear/brake dual control lever combo with rapid rise rear mech (which was thought easier to use, I guess).
Top tube (horizontal) 22”
Seat tube top to BB 18”
Stand over height 30”
Obviously the bike has seen a few years' of use so it has some scuffs and scrapes but any little paint chips have always been touched up, it has never been crashed or ridden really hard and it is a solid well looked after machine which rides really well. The anodized finish is super tough and has really stood up well.
As pictured it has a 70 mm stem and is set up for a 5' 5” lady of average build with around a 30” inside leg. It would easily accommodate a rider an inch or so either side of this size.
We also have a brand new, duplicate 90 mm Bontrager stem so that there was an option for longer cockpit. This was tested but then never used so it could easily be set up for a rider up to around 5' 8”.
Original rear shock was rubbish and has been replaced with a Fox Float. This is mounted with a TF Tuned heavy duty mount kit, has had a recent air sleeve service and is in excellent condition. Rockshox Reba 120 mm Forks have also had recent lowers/oil service and work perfectly with a poploc remote lockout fitted. Had a full service at TF Tuned back in 2010 when new seals etc. were fitted and have not seen massive use since. Stanchions are in excellent condition and the only mark I can find on them is very tiny and up top by the crown.
Currently set up tubeless with barely worn Kenda tyres on the Bontrager lite rims which have Bontrager badged hubs (DT Swiss 370 internals). Sets up easily with Stan's sealant as the rims are fully tubeless ready.
Wheels are true with hub bearings replaced fairly recently (no play) and a new free-hub was also fitted, brakes bled recently and have almost new pads.
XT BB is barely used and is smooth and tight. Can come with Shimano M540 pedals which are scuffed but work well with no play as they have just been serviced.
Crank arms are well rubbed but in good order functionally. Chain & drive-train are not very old and all rings/cassette are in good condition with loads of miles left in them. 42-32-22 and SRAM 11-34 cassette (nine speed) rapid rise/dual control.
Very well cared for with many new parts fitted to keep it running sweet. Just serviced for summer but then a perfect bike popped up on here!
New LX brake/shifter fitted last year as the original got a little sticky. Original now serviced is available as spare if wanted. Spare rear dérailleur hanger included.
Not had a very hard life and still looks very nice and rides very well.
New bike forces sale but we are sad to see this one go as it is an extremely reliable trail bike.
Prefer to meet/arrange pick up (Halifax, West Yorkshire & surrounding).
Post Office messed me around badly the last time I posted a bike!!
Looking for £375 cash pick up but prepared to meet up at reasonable distance.
Splitting not an option for the moment!
