I’m thinking of getting a genesis day one with an Alfine hub for commuting and a bit of light touring with some offroad but I don’t know whether it’s worth going for the 11 over the 8. Are the extra 3 gears and the 853 frame worth the extra £’s and how does the range on the 2 hubs compare?

its not the 3 gears its the around 300% range on the 8 verse the 500 odd% range on the 11.

Cracking bike though , the 8 is quite heavy though.

definantly copes well with touring – mrs tr has one for commuting (24 mils a day and we did a tour round shetland , orkney and then back to home no problems
