A mate of mine is tempted to purchase a Genesis Core 40, but his local bike shop has suggested a 20.5″ frame size. I thought this was strange as he’s 5ft 10″, and I’m 6ft 3″ and have a 20″ frame (Orange 5). Do you think his LBS is trying to get rid of a 20.5″ bike? Thoughts from owners of this make would be great.

    Cheers!

    Bad advice for sure!!

    I’ve got a 2010 Altitude 10, I’m 6ft tall with lanky legs and I ride a 17.5″

Shop elsewhere if this is their idea of sizing a bike!!

Exit that bike shop, runaway, and don’t go back.

Any bike shop that tries to sell someone a bike that is too big for them does not deserve to be in business.

This happened to me with the very first bike i bought. I was sold a bike too large for my little legs, made do with it but wont make the same mistake again.
Why doesnt your friend try out a few bikes of different sizes?
