It’s time to replace my gear cables, outers and inners. What one’s to go for?

Shimano stainless steel cables and shimano 5mm outer with the correct sealed end caps. Best value for money and used by the trade the world over.
You might save a couple of £ by using jagwire or other cheap brands but to be honest its not worth the small saving as they will corrode quicker and have substandard linings on the outer casing.
I’m sure others will have their opinions but thats mine thrown in as a starting point 😉
(18 years in the trade) ((jesus i’m old!))

No idea how much better or worse they are than anything else, but I use Fibrax with braided outers – to (just about) match the braided hoses on my Hope brakes.

Never had any shifting issues with them, so presume they are ok

I’ve just bought a new Zee shifter (so shimano inner), and a transfill outer.
It’s not fitted yet, so no idea if it’s good or not.

So really, this post is pointless. 😈

Cheap clarks in Shimano XTR sealed outers for me. Works well, usually only need to change an inner when either changing lengths or fixing crash damage.

XTR or XT with the little booties. Don’t waste money on any other fancy tat.
