Got a letter off British Gas wanting us to sign up for 2 years at a fixed price (8.745 pp kwh)
I know this is a ploy to stop us shopping around for 2 years but, A)is there any point shopping round anyway, B)if you do transfer to another company, do the prices catch up with you eventually?

Can’t remember what we’re paying but we switched from Scottish Power to a fixed rate with NPower a few weeks ago

E-ON were slightly cheaper but their website was grinding to a halt & the phone lines constantly engaged

Ovo energy currently and used Ebico prior to them, might not be the cheapest but a lot easier to deal with and better ethics.
Have not used any of the big fish for years.

most companies charge two rates one for the first X kwh and y for the next y kwh making it difficukt to make a considered comparison. As a gas engineer visiting circa 4 houses every day I ‘ve only ever come across 2 people who make accurate records of their consumption both were retired white male professionals over 60 yrs old with buckets of cash to spend..
