I got this unit 6 months ago or so and have only used it to trace routes as i ride them.
After reading the manual it has a setting to “find a place of interest” – where can i get the places of interest data from – anyone help me?

I am currently using memory map to store routes etc but would like to use it a bit more (properly!!)

POIs will surely just be waypoints that you’ve entered??

no – tis towns/cities, pubs etc off a cd (can’t find where to get teh cd tho)

(thinking about it – the Venture doesn’t do the mapping does it? – if not then best check the info in my post before buying…)

You’ll be wanting one of the MapSource MetroGuide packages – they contain this data and allow you to upload the detailed maps to the GPS where supported. They used to do one just for the UK but it’s been superseded by MetroGuide Europe. You can get the latest updates for the MapSource (ie the application, not the map data) online for free.
