I may well be getting a Garmin 820 soon (birthday present lucky me) all sounds good but I’m worried about it costing $$$ to keep in up to date maps on the future.

Does anyone know whether there’s a free map update service (like the garmin unit in my car) or whether maps cost to update (like the previous tomtom in the car which cost more to update than to replace with a new model!)

The 820 uses a Garmin version of OSM mapping and is free.
