Any things to try before I contact garmin support (out of warranty)

It loads the first page (says garmin) then shows the standby symbol and switches off. Does this both connected to the charger and not.

I have tried googling and a ‘master reset’ of holding lap and start together whilst switching on. This doesn’t seem to do anything either…

    ?

EDIT – now it doesn’t even load the first page. just dead.

Have you tried plugging it into a PC rather than just a charger? That’d be my next step, possibility that the PC trying to communicate might help.

Failing that, the Garmin out of warranty service is actually pretty good

Try taking the SD card out too.

yup this a common problem. Take SD card out hard restart. I think it can hang up on the SD card map or its own sometimes

    no SD card 🙁

I’ll try plugging it in to the pc when I get home.

Any idea how much it might cost to send it back to Garmin?

Cost of postage there and then about £80 for me to get a refurbed 800 when mine died out of warranty. Refurbed model may as well have been new.

They did try help me before that but mine was water damage so not much hope.

Plugging it into a PC let me do the reset. Lost all my data but seems to be ok again. Will find out tomorrow….
