The paint on my garage doors is starting to crack and flake off on several of the vertical strips. It’s been on there 18 years or so from when the house was built, so it’s not done too badly.

Can anyone advise me on how to proceed from here? Ideally I’d strip all the old paint off, but the doors have what looks like a powder coat on them, which I’d prefer not to destroy if I can help it. I’ve pressure washed the doors to remove the loose stuff incidentally.

Any thoughts on how you’d go about this? I’m not after a perfect job, but don’t want it to look terrible!

    Thanks!

Pics to follow when I can work out how to do it..

Not sure on how to remove paint without damaging powder coat but if it was me I would be carefully sanding it by hand 😐
What I di know is that if you do remove all paint and powder coat and find the door is galvanised you will need an etching primer before painting it or the paint will not adhere.
