  • Fulcrum bearing sizes please?

    Anybody replaced the bearings in the freehub and axle on Fulcrum Red Power XL 29er wheels?. I can’t find the size anywhere or even retailers that have them listed either?

    if no one else comes up with a better answer, i very much doubt the bearings are special, and even if they are unusual they are probably the same as Campagnolo, being as they are the same company.

    just unscrew your end cap and get the number off the bearing.

    Going from the Fulcrum document mrmo linked to – The wheel hub bearings are RMO-008 which I know to be equivelent to 6804 and are readily available.

    The freehub bearings are RMO-009, which are not a standard size, but can be bought from bike shops, a quick google turns up this – http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/fulcrum-4-rm0-009-rm-freehub-sealed-bearing-28x19x5-4pcs-id75192.html but you may find cheaper. HTH

    Thanks people. Have tried a number of bearing suppliers with no joy, seems its a weird size (freehub bearings are my issue). Can’t believe the cost of new bearings. Suppose its a sellers market with these.

    Managed to source some Enduro bearings from here

    Should last longer than the Fulcrum version that has only 1 rubber seal. Thanks again though.

    just a word of caution, I don’t know if the Fulcrum freehub is the same as the Campagnolo, but if it is the following may be of help.

    They are not designed to be user serviceable, they are, but it is a *****. The problem is as follows. Once you remove the body, you have access to one bearing, the outer one, a drift/screwdriver/etc from the inside should get this out fairly easily,( there is a spacer in the body that can fairly easily be moved out of the way.)

    The problem is the inner bearing, if you look you will see a circlip, but it has no way of removing it, no pin holes, no wedge ends. They may have changed the design, it may be different, but just be aware before you try and hit the crap out of the inner bearing and wonder why it won’t come out.

    To get it out, google is your friend, but be prepared for it to take a while.

    Thanks MrMo but it has 2 holes like most circlips I have come across, taking it to work as circlip pliers are there. Must admit I did hit the inner bearing and wondered why it wasn’t moving until I clocked the circlip. The circlip doesn’t look like its on the Fulcrum drawings of the freehub that I have come across which I found weird.

    bigbloke, if they have been sensible enough to add some holes then that is progress, it is just a circlip, just one that they didn’t used to bother to provide a method to remove!!!

    I thought I ought to warn though.
