can I ask what year it is and how much use its had on the shock/pivots etc
Cheers
it has the Gussets on the top/down/head tube and in my opinion is the better frame than the current one probably an 07/8 as SC don't do frames by each year.
Judging by the OP description the shock has been tuned, so would of been serviced, there is only ! pivot to go wrong, looks a good buy to me and sure you could negotiate on the price!
I am really after an Orange Five to be honest but I have no clue on the Heckler other than its a nice bike.
Whats it weight about 6.8lbs with shock? and another stupid question but is it a 160mm travel or 140mm?
Sorry for the noobie post I just am not sure on info on these bikes!
2007
140mm Travel
No idea about weight but its pretty light, pedals very light.

Sounds to me you really don't want to be buying a frame then if you are a noobie?
Have you tried out an Orange 5? What bike do you have now?
noobie here I meant not to riding/messing with bikes!
What I also meant was I am a bit new when it comes to anything Santa Cruz as I have not even considered them as an option until I saw this.
Have been looking at the lapierre Zesty 514 and the Orange Five.
Only been to a lbs yesterday to test out an Orange but all they had was a medium and at 6'2 was a bit cramped!
Did have an 2007 Orange Cush but then recently bought a Boardman Pro HT used and have been bashing about on that for a bit to get the miles in as wanted a more XC focused bike over the Crush.
Now just getting a bit tired of the sketchy ride of the HT. The Boardman is a nice bike but for coming back down a hill its hard work with a man of 6'3 and 16.5 stone!
Great climber!
Heckler then with some 36s on it, the large would be ok for you as I'm 511 and could of done with a medium. The heckler is a burly bike and as your a big guy would be ideal. That heckler is value for money as it looks in great nice, headset, decent shock etc
And everyone else has an orange 5' be different

Sizing is under the geometry tab, they are short bikes, damn good short bikes, I prefered it to the five
