Pace RC405 Frameset, 2007, white, size large. Bad bits: Top tube damaged in crash, dented close to seat tube junction, but no creases and is still straight and true, although not pretty. However, the seat tube has fatigue cracks from the weld where the top pivot bracket joins the seat tube, which I believe are nothing to do with the crash damage. Pace inspected these cracks and stated that as the frame is "very strong" the crack may not propogate any further... but I was not so convinced. Good bits: the rest of the frame, rear triangle, pivot plates, dropouts (QR) are in very good condition. The main pivot bearings were replaced about 6 rides before my crash, and the DT HVR200 shock was serviced by Pace at approximately the same time – receipt to prove. I was thinking of having it repaired myself, but I claimed on my insurance for a new frame, so I don’t need it, and I would always have that doubt in my mind in using it, whether repaired or not (if I followed Pace’s advice). The shock alone would be over £300 new, so I was thinking of £250 plus postage for the whole thing as described, or £125 without the shock. I think I have the headset and front mech, which I will sell separately if anyone fancies re-building it.
Photos available if anyone is interested.
