1998 PEUGEOT 306 LX AUTO BLUE
This car has been stood/SORN for the past two years. I recharged and started the car last week. It Started first time with the battery charged!! and did not stall or die. So we decided to take a chance and put it through its MOT to see what would need doing to get it onto the road.
The car comes with some service history (4? stamps) and two keys (remotes do not work but both keys do).
The MOT test station collected and drove our car to the test centre on his insurance (the car has no tax/test/insurance so we couldnt legally drive it on the road).
It failed (1/03/10- Doc to prove) on:
-Velocity joint Gaiter (nearside front) needs replacing
-Offside front tyre has a bulge
-Exhaust emissions fail (the fuel in the tank is quite old).
-The brakes have not siezed and work (otherwise the MOT tester would have failed them).
To pass its MOT we were advised it would need £200 of work (friends say that work will be more £80-100). IF you are mechanically minded this could prove to be a very good car for you.
When the car has been put through its MOT it will also benefit from a oil and coolant change (remember the car has been stood for two years).
This is why we have decided to sell the car as it is. It is too much time for me to take off work at the moment. Or if Im honest, Im sick of seeing the bloody thing on the drive and washing the bird crap off every other week.
Please note:
The car is not taxed, tested or MOT'd. You would need to either collect on a lowloader or tow.
The seats are not ripped/damaged, all lights work, the bodywork has no dents, no rust that I can see (or if there its small) and the stereo possibly needs replacing.
The car starts, continues to run changes gear and brakes currently.
