Vango Icarus 500

Hi, having missed our caravan I plumped for a really nice tent set up, sadly camping wasn't for us and we have started looking for another caravan.

Its Vango Icarus 500, in green (laurel meadow) plus the Optional Canopy, Carpet and Footprint all purchased on the 28th of last month .Its a simple three pole tunnel tent with a sewn in ground sheet and integrated twin section bedroom/flysheet.

Its been used on one 4 night trip. Everything is genuinely as new, its been aired in the house since we came back and packed away fully dry. It all comes in Vango carry bags and I still have the info labels that were tagged to them.

The canopy comes down fully at both sides, has two large windows and effectively doubles the living space, the carpet is Vango specific to the this model, and the footprint protects the groundsheet and has been cleaned.

RRP is £310, i'm after £190 for the lot. Located in Hessle, West Hull.

we're looking at maybe downsizing now with a ickle tent and have seen a few at camping shows for £100. on the verge of choosing one of them.

i expect from the price youve put it up for, that you wouldnt go that low, but id maybe go for yours if you did.

you may be dismayed to find out if you put it in google, that you can get em new for £120! and it says RRP is £170 :-/

Hi,

Yeah I checked out the internet prices, but bought from a local store. Thought i'd stick with the store in case of needing to return it.

Whether your interested in mine or not, i'd flag up the Icarus 500 overall it seems a great tent. I've had a few smaller tents over the years and like a lot of its features of the Icarus. Dont know if you've been in one but there very roomy inside, have a large side window and two smaller front windows. Its Green colour isn't so light that you wake up at sunrise and the doors have a large storm flaps that tucks underneath the groundsheet, something many other tents lack.

If your down sizing I think you would appreciate the canopy, we had blazing hot sun the first day then rain for a couple of days, but the canopy meant we could still sit outside and cook, take off grassy shoes etc, it acts as a great windbreak and sunshelter.

The footprint has the obvious advatages you'll already know from previously camping, but I suppose it and the carpet is non essential and we may well put them to use in a caravan awning, so if you want the tent, canopy alone and i'd let it go for £150.

prob a half decent offer, but we not really too bothered bout extras :-/

we got 3 tents already, and just wanted a tent with *cough* a quick erection and standing room, just for those days when you think "**** it lets go and spend the night away" no frills, pack light, that sort of thing.

did it a few weeks ago in a tiny 2 man tent, which was in hindsight, a bit too small, thats why we thought we'd just look at whats out there cheapo cheapo. and theres a few at the local tent show that were £100 (same size and style as yours), some better ones for £130 for instance.

so......altho its probably a decent offer of yours, id say we'll probably end up just paying just a ton for something. if you dropped that low id mebbes go for it.
