Hope 1 1/8th headset in silver. Both bearings turn smoothly and not at all loose. They've been coated in thick grease inside the cups and have never been subject to cleaners (like Muc Off), jet washing or even a hose. No rust at all on bearings. Hope V2 203mm. Vented front, standard floating rear. Overall aesthetic condition is very good, mechanically they are perfect. The pistons/seals have been regularly cleaned and lubed with silicone and both brakes will have fresh fluid (Motul 5.1)
and be properly bled. With the exception of the rear mount (Hope type G, it'll cost you £12 new), everything is there: rotor bolts, lever/caliper bolts and the front PM-203mm adaptor. Rear hose is 133cm; front is 81cm. I can trim either to any length you wish before I bleed them.
Pads (organic) have lots of life left in them and I'll also included two pairs of virtually new Hope sintered pads.
Bad points: There are one or two scuffs on the alloy rotor carriers, but nothing that affects the integrity. The front hose has two rusty marks where moisture has somehow gotten through the plastic coat over the braids. It's not a fluid leak as it has been like that for months, so I'm content that it is a purely cosmetic issue. The spots are low down and would be behind the fork when the brake is on the bike. £230

2007 Specialized SX Trail frame, size medium. The frame has been stripped of paint to leave a raw aluminium finish. The swing arm/chainstay is the modified '08 version purchased for £100 from Specialized in May 2010, to replace the original. The DHX 4.0 shock was service and PUSH tuned in early 2010. The bike only had three of four rides last year, totalling perhaps 10 hours, so I wouldn't be expecting to have the shock serviced again until after this season. All suspension bearings were replaced in May 2010 and have been covered with inner-tube mudguards. They have a good few years life left in them (if you look after them!!).
The DHX was PUSH tuned more towards rock/root hits and transition rather than drops and big hits, which aren't really my kind of thing. That's not to say that it isn't capable, it's just better suited to fast, rocky/rooty riding than to being hucked. The adjustable ProPedal is much more effective since the PUSH and the compression is controlled and progressive; so the DHX's weakness of blowing through its travel - leaving the bike feeling permanently 'flat-tyred' - is resolved. It's not exactly the kind of bike one would want doing all day epics on - although it was quite at home on Glentress Black - but the PUSH tuning makes it much, much more comfortable and responsive to pedal than the standard set-up or even the shorter travel Enduro, whilst also providing impressive rear-wheel tracking.
Included in the sale will be two dérailleur hangers (both straight); Specialized FSR neoprene chainstay protector; QR Specialized seatpost clamp; RaceFace Diabolus seatpost.
This frame is in excellent condition - no cracks, dings, dents. No shock service needed; no bearings to replace; new, stronger chainstays; brake spots faced. I appreciate that the price is at the high end on the used market, but, to the best of my knowledge, there won't be any surprises for the buyer. Just build it up and go.
