Owing to a sudden and unexpected death in the family just before Christmas I've got the above car sat on my drive that needs to be sold. It'll go on eBay in a week or so, but it would be spot on for MTB-related transport so I thought I'd try here first to see if anyone's interested.
It's a 2002 (02 reg) C5 estate in metallic red. SX spec (alloy wheels, climate control, electric windows, CD player etc). 2.0 HDi diesel engine (110bhp version). 62K miles on the clock. It's got roof rails. It has 'proper' tyres (not crappy cheap ones) with reasonable life left. The spare, jack etc are all in place. It's been used in the way that cars should, rather than cosseted, so it's got a few marks on it, but that just adds to the character doesn't it
MOT to end June 09, tax to end Oct 09.
It's a relatively low CO2 band for a car of its size; last road tax was £120 for a year.
It starts and runs fine; it had sat unused for 3 weeks before I picked it up on Wednesday and started first time and got me back home (50 miles) with no problems (I'd gone equipped with jump leads to start it, but didn't even need them).
There are a few points to highlight:
It's got a bit of a ripple on the bottom lip of the bootlid (at the LHS) as if the boot has been closed on something at some point. There's also a slight crease in the metalwork behind the back wheel on the driver's side. Otherwise there's a few stone chips as would be expected for a car of its age.
The interior is a bit grubby at the moment, but I'm in the process of cleaning it up.
The main (remote) key fob doesn't appear to work remotely any more. I've tried a new battery and had the same problem.
At the moment I don't have:
The load cover. I'm expecting this is around somewhere, so hope to track it down.
The manual.
The service book.
The second key.
I'm hoping to get my hands on these this weekend, but it does involve sorting through possessions so there is some dependancy on the emotional state of the relevant people. I already have the V5C, MOT and one service receipt...
It's also fitted with a towbar (2-bolt flange type) with a single set of electrics. It hasn't been used for towing any time recently (it's mainly been used for carrying canoes on a roofrack), but would be ideal for a bike rack.
These things are huge inside and will easily swallow a heap of kit, people and bikes. The interior is dark grey, so will shrug off the inevitable chainring marks... Self-levelling suspension is quite cool, and it can be raised / lowered at teh push of a button to increase ground clearance or facilitate loading.
It's no Mondeo to drive; it wallows a bit in corners but grips fine and has a very comfy/compliant ride.
Guide price is £1600-1900, and they do go for this kind of money on the 'bay. However, we need to shift it and, given the fact it's not in perfect condition, I'd be happy to get rid of it for £1500 (it's part of the deceased's estate so needs to go for fair market value). If you want any more info, or want to come and have a look at it then please drop me a mail:
