i bought a shim to reduce my hone front mech down to 28.6……..it doesn't fit properley.

This is what I did have one like this and this is what they sold me to make up the bigger difference click here.Do i need the "older" style one with metal insert or am i doing something wrong with the later one?

Hone M600 v1 needs Y-5HY 98020
Hone M600 v2 and M601 need SM-AD16S
Deore M511 needs Y-5HL 98010
Deore M510 needs Y-5EZ 98020
