I need a new front mech. Currently have a triple 10s XT jobbie but as I only run two rings up front I figure I’ll be better off with a double specific mech as I’ve never been able to get the shifting perfect.

My current SLX cranks work on a 50mm chainline I think but the double specific XT mechs all state for 48.8mm

    So, will it work??

It all depends on what size rings you are running.

I’m running a 10 speed Shimano 2012 FD-M785-10 double specific mech with a triple 10speed XT chainset (50mm chainline) that I have converted to double and bash with 24 – 36 rings.

I also tried an XT triple (10 speed) and the double specific (9 speed) SLX mech before settling for the FD-M785-10.

    Chainline won’t be a problem.

Nice one cheers, I’m currently runnning 22/34 up front, I’ve been eyeing the M786 so will order one up and give it a go.
