Sorry – meant to post this in the bike forum.

Did 15 miles around Clapham/Austwick/Wharfe/Feizor yesterday and it was a hoot save for the ghastly harmonics and vibration coming from the front brake (Elixir 5). WTF is causing it and how can I cure it. I took out the front wheel twice to investigate but have no clue.

I even had some old walking type say to me "ho ho – that needs some oil on it." Nearly pitched the old sod over a drystone wall 😆

Sorry to ask a basic question, but did you try to realign the caliper?

On the hope site there are videos of how to centralise the caliper if they are post mount.

You need to centralise the calliper first then set the pistons to match. You probably have a slightly sticky piston

    This should do the trick:

    1) Buy Shimano
    2) Remove Avid and dispose
    3) Fit Shimano

Worked for the Hayes I had on my Zion…

Check the alignment, condition, clean etc.

Pull the lever and look at the pads. One will moving much further than the other. Realign calliper then centralise the pads.

    Job done.
