Hi Chaps,

My nextdoor neighbour has fried his laptop drive, along with the ram… possibly other parts too.

I’ve tried mounting the drive through a 2.5 caddy, but no joy.

Anyone got any suggestions on how to tackle this?

what happens when the machine is turned on?

stick the hard drive in a computer

run ultimate boot CD

run ranish partition manager or another tool on there.. see whats going on with the file system at a low level

run the hard drive diagnostic tool from UBCD for your HD manufacturer

run memtest86 on the RAM
