In a moment of madness i’ve “pre-registered” for the 2017 French Divide event, anyone done it this year and have any tips or pointers?

If i get a place was thinking of using my trusty Fargo despite the amount of climbing. I figure comfort and reliability go a long way on an event such as this?

    Looks all right that.
I did a bit of the Camino de Santiago last year,if it’s the same type of mixed terrain,it would be fun as long as it’s not full of pilgrims 😉

There was a good article on it of a recon ride before the event with some of the organisers in the Spring edition of 200 magazine.

Rich-Pips did it with his son on the tandem as well. Think it was in an Alp-Kit newsletter.

Here you go, this link will give you a bit more detail of our actual trip.

As to what bike, there was everything from skinny CX file treads to full on fat bikes. I’d aim for something tyre wise near to 50mm with some tread.

Cool, I might look at doing that route next year as a relaxed bikepacking trip, but not the actual event.
