I have a Sharp non-smart TV and have been using a Manhattan Freesat box since moving in to this house a year ago. Has always worked perfectly, though a few of the on demand apps are no longer supported.

The last few days the signal has been dropping and since yesterday the box wont get any signal at all. If you go to ‘Freesat Installation’ it skips from good signal quality/strength to 0% every few seconds.

Any ideas? Is there something I can do to test the actual signal strength at the cable? Its a dual coax cable and both ‘channels’ have the same problem.

    Thanks!

Water in the cable or the Lnb is on thre fritz
Cheap sat signal tester will do it. Screw fix or the usual suspects sell um

Cheers, I’ll try to beg, borrow or steal a tester.

Any way to tell the difference between these two faults?

Signal should be between 5 and 7 db. on the meter for a good signal, if the cable has water in look for crusty dust or verdigris on the copper.

Buy a short length of cable and connect directly to LNB. Obviously you’ll need a ladder…

If you’re lucky the LNB will have multiple outputs and they won’t all be kaput.
