Hi folks. Recently got back into cycling after an 8 plus year break. Picked up a s/hbike with American Classic wheelset. Previous owner had to have the freehub replaced before i collected it. Never done any hub maintenance in the past on my bikes (either upgraded or changed bikes before ive needed to possibly). Just wondering what sort of maintenance/shedule i should be doing to minimise the chances of premature failure.

    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome back to cycling!
Keeping the hub clean is always a good start. A decent free hub will have good sealing so most dirty will stay away. Might be worth looking up the manufacturer instructions as some will advise cleaning free hub then lubing with a light oil

Thanks! It seems lots have changed with 1x drivetrains, droppers, wheel size and wide bars etc. Really enjoying it again just need to shift some lard and up the fitness levels!
Found some info on the hubs – cartridge bearings so as you say clean and lube of the rest.

    Thanks
