What do you think (in general) manufacturer’s and retailer’s approach would be to warrantying a frame from a bike bought with off-the-shelf parts, if the original parts had been removed when new, sold and other parts fitted. I’m talking buying a stock bike and replacing then selling groupset, wheels, etc with better/preferred ones.

It’s a common enough occurrence. However, you do lay yourself open to the “not having had parts fitted by a qualified mechanic” excuse should something go wrong with the frame. I’d not worry about it myself, but just be aware.

Some companies will just swap you out a new swing arm chainstay or main frame, rather than a whole new bike. If you haven’t got the original bits then they are not going to swap those bits.

They’ll not replace the full bike, only the broken part.

Worst case they’ll swap the whole frame but not the whole bike.

The only time you may hit a problem is if you’ve fitted something which isn’t recommended I.e 160mm forks on an XC bike which is made for 100mm forks.
