So, given that the mags including STW, are all focussed on these fashionable, new-fangled 29er and 650B/27.5er bikes.

For uan old giffer too poor/stuck in my ways/grumpy to change from 26in
the only Bike test I will read/am interested in is this…

What 26in full sus frame replacement can I look at now that Santa Cruz no longer do any? I have a 26in Santa Cruz Blur LT – so if the frame goes what are my options?

I can only find the Empire Cycles MX6-EVO – is there anything else out there?

Just get another, plenty of fashion victims will be changing thier clubs in the belief that 1.5″ wheel difference will allow them to break the 100 and get that handicap down.

Bound to be a few 26″ Blurs practically like new in people’s garages

Ah – Banshee Rune/Spitfire – both happily take 26″ wheels, but a change of dropouts makes then 650 for when/if you do make the move.

All the wheel size moaning is going to get a whole lot worse after this weekend…

Ahh thanks guys so the test could be :
    Empire Cycles MX6-EVO
    Ventana El Ciclon
    Nicolai Ion 26
    Banshee Spitfire

Now all I need is the fine folk STW towers to do the test… 😆
It’s be the first bike test I’d have read in a couple of years

    Can’t you fit 26″ wheels to a 650b FS?

    Considered a Blur TRc?

They are an absolute hoot to ride! Fast on the ups, fast and fun on the downs. A nice carbon frame from the end of the 26″ era with more modern geometry than your Blur LT.

High volume 26″ tyres are a few millimetres off 650b.

Unless the 650b has the same volume tyres 😉

Yes of course. Sillyoldman. Point is the op could use his wheels on a 650b frame and the geometry wouldn’t be radically compromised. I know someone who is running 26″ wheels in a 650b frame and he loves it, no plans to change.

Gotcha. Depending on frame the BB height and HA may be affected due to the shorter A-C height of a 26 fork vs a 650 fork, but you make a fair point. Only guy I know doing a similar thing is running 650 forks for that reason.

ok – so what you’re saying is that you could go 26+ using a 650B frame, an interesting idea 🙂

Not that my Blur is broken (touch wood) – this was a hypothetical question in case it did (with a sub plot whining about a lack of bike tests that I have any interest in reading)
