    Hi all

My 2014 Fox fork seems pretty sticky but before I go and get it serviced by Mojo, can anyone tell me whether (or how) I can easily lubricate the seals myself in the meantime without needing a load of specialist tools etc? I see on Evans I can get a 5ml ‘Float Fluid Pillow Pack’ for a couple of quid but is this suitable for the job and what do you do with it?

    Cheers! 🙂

If you mean the wiper seals then, use a specific fork lube. I use finish line red teflon, theres also others like Juicy Lube.
Float Fluid is for maintaining an air seal inside the fork or rear shock.
If in doubt, speak to your lbs and see what they stock / recommend.

Thanks! I’ve got some Finish Line red teflon lube (the Dry one), so maybe I’ll try that – do you apply it with a cloth? Perhaps I’ll make a trip to my LBS too!

Don’t use general lube (like Finish Line Red). The Float fluid is the best option IMHO. You can only use this type of fork oil or silicone based sprays without degrading the rubber in the seals over time. Personally I would use the float fluid as it will mix fine with the oil in the lowers already rather than contaminating it,although silicon based lubes are a good ‘quick fix’.

What about something like Fenwicks’ Suspension Lube Spray? http://www.evanscycles.com/products/fenwicks/suspension-lube-spray-ec035361

i use the spray and the end of a zip tie, slow and careful all the way around the seal.

A good quality silicon spray (not a silicon substitute i.e. WD40) goes a long way. Finish Line do a very expensive stanchion lube and it comes with little straws so you can get inside the lip of the seals…
