I’m building up a set of 36 Van 160’s and have a choice of two dampers.

A 2007 FIT damper from before fox were calling it FIT.
    A 2012 O/B damper.

    Both are from “R” models.

Ive been using the 2007 one for years in my current forks but wondered if the open bath one could be better from a lubrication perspective?

    A 2012 O/B damper.

I had one of these on an OE 36 R fork of that vintage, it was diabolical.

    Hope that helps.

The 07 FIT damper is no longer servicable due to the bladders not being available anymore.
The O/B R carts. are but the performance isn’t great.
Between the 2 the O/B is best bet.

Get either and put an avalanche cartridge in it.

Ahhh, I rebuilt it last year with parts from Mojo. They did suggest parts were getting harder to obtain.

Will probably run the older FIT one if thats the case and look out for an RC2 damper to come up.

Yep all bladders gone now for the ‘old’ FIT dampers R & RC2, as mentioned above you can use the an AVY cart. or a new sytle FIT RC2 with a retro fitted top cap to match the pre 2011 threads.
