Is it possible to get four bikes on the roof of a focus size car using 2*thule proride 591 and 2*cheapo halfords ones? One 29er, 2 *26″ and a kids bike. Advice much appreciated as I would prefer to avoid 2 on the roof, 2 on the bike,
    thanks

Perfectly possible. It’ll be much easier if you use aero bars with T tracks rather than clamps that fit around the bars as you get much more usable space.

Get 4x Thule 651 on top of a Golf. Next to each other head to toe, Saddles dropped so don’t have to turn bars,
Hardest bit is reaching into the middle of the roof with a bike.

Yes, done it no problems. It’s not particularly good for your fuel economy though, so don’t get too heavy with your right foot. It also presents quite a large target area for bird strikes, as I discovered on one occasion when we kebabed a pheasant on the way to the Yorkshire dales – 100 miles later it was nicely air-dried and had turned into biltong on our spokes.

Four 591s permanently on our roof. The aerobars are much better. Plus you can reverse the fittings so two adjusters can be reached per side. Great kit. Driven through France four up many times.
