    Becky, your soilder beetles are a striking red colour. Were they that colour or is that how the camera captured their colour? BTW they have the nickname ‘the bonking beetle’ due to rarely being seen singly.

    The one with more spots is a Harlequin beetle, from asia, very invasive and aggressive, it’s population is being monitored.

    The other is a 7spot and common i believe.

    Yup, if it’s ladybirds and they have more than 7 spots, interrupt them! They’re foreigners, taking over the habitat (and possibly jobs) of the local 7 spot ladybirds. Surprised the Daily Fail hasn’t run a story on them, actually…
