Bought a pair of Oakley Radarlock glasses of here, had plenty of contact with the seller and bought the glasses which were advertised as with a couple of lenses, case and paperwork to prove they are genuine.

Received the everything in the post a few days later except for the paperwork. Contacted the seller who said he’d forgotten to post it, his kid had drawn on it and he’d send it out later.

This was 3 weeks ago, and still no paperwork. And he’s now blaming royal mail for losing the paperwork.

I’ve paid for glasses, lenses a case and paperwork that proves authenticity. But this is not what i’ve received.

What would you guys do in this situation??

    I assume it’s these ones:

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/radarlock-path-glasses-team-sky-blue

I can’t help notice several people, including Oakley Masterbater Houns, said they were fake in the thread?

Anyway. You paid for the glasses plus certificate. No certificate, then full refund and send them back.

I assume you paid via regular Paypal so are covered if needed?

    Fake in my opinion.
Oakley hardcases don’t come with a belt loop, and the zip tag is too big.

I’ve got fakes and real ones to compare….

…and if the inside of the case is soft foam rather than hard covered foam, they definitely fakes…

Given that the seller is still active on here if chase them round the forum until you get it resolved.

I will confirm that they are genuine when they arrive.

    Go on then

You paid for them including paperwork. Whatever the circumstances are that have caused that paperwork not being in your hands, is not your problem.

It’s for seller to resolve. Good luck.

    Why not ask Oakley?

So this is interesting. The same seller sold me the same glasses in the same couloir with 5 lenses last September.

Can anyone tell me what I need to look for to see if they are fakes?

Just checked crikeys content against other radars I bought direct from Oakley – everything Crikey says is true, soft foam, belt clip and large zip tag. – the ****!

Here’s a 3 month old thread with the seller asking where to buy knockoff Radarlocks:

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/cheap-oakleys-2

Oh, and here’s some more for sale, which Kryten bought, from 5 months ago:

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/oakley-radarlock-path-sky-blue

Were sold a year ago, as well:

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/oakley-radarlock-path

Also, he has been offering them via wanted threads. If they are dodgy, hopefully Rochey didn’t go through with buying them last month:

…maybe the guy has a hook up with a legit supplier. Who knows.

Take them to a shop which has genuine ones and compare.

This is the reason why I would never ever buy second hand ones – the fakes can be really good.

    Pitchfork anyone ?

Hold on though. I just watched slogos vid and popped out to compare my frames.

So, thickness, lenses, model numbers, ear socks and nose pieces for his sky blue ones are all the same as they vid describes the genuine a ones. And compared to my original Radars, oliphants are almost the same only the radar lock bit is different.

It could be I have genuine radars in a fake case, or they are a very very good copy?

I’ve got wallpaper stripper and a particularly scary angle grinder if any use.

    Potentially a very good copy.

I have real ones and two copies, the copies bought two years apart. The second copy pair are almost indistinguishable from the real ones, and even the lenses or the optical quality is comparable in the second pair. Those boys are fast learners…..

Any way to tell Crikey? Fwiw until this thread I was in blissful ignorance. But could make a forlorn attempt at asking for a refund.

The op should check his also.

Report to trading standards, the authorities are starting to take this kind of thing very seriously:

    http://www.bikeradar.com/road/news/article/local-bike-shops-blend-real-and-fake-bike-kit-to-mislead-consumers-40001/

I am sure they have the power to get his address/details through Paypal, email accounts etc.

Or, perhaps he would refund anyone (assuming they are actually fake) before it takes the official route??

    Dunno, sorry.
Oakley will tell you for sure though.

Best to buy the £10-15 ones from eBay, then compare…

he claims that his mother in law works for snow and rock!

As I mentioned, it could be legit.

Does beg the question why he was enquiring after cheap knock-offs, though.

Anyway. How did you pay, Andy?

good detective work Jamie, wish i’d check his old threads beforehand.

ian oliphant, has assured my via email that they are genuine, so obviously i don’t need the paperwork as proof!!

Fwiw the lense as a minimum is fake.

As houns pointed out, Oakley don’t offer a gold tint on the radarlocks.

Have a look here to see lenses offered…

    paypal gift unfortunately.

yeah it does seem strange, especially because the ones kryton bought he slisted them as “just dont suit my face”, but obviously thought another pair exactly the same might fit differently!!

    andytpickering

i questioned the lens colour as the gold iridium has a green tint to it, and he told me to search for pictures of richie porte winning the willunga hill stage (which must be definitive proof that the lenses are genuine )

also the polarized lenses they came with are much thinner than the others

    🙄

and with that, this thread should end (of course it will not…..)

It’s odd, although I didn’t like that gold lens, it did seem “odd” to look through in a way I couldn’t put my finger on. I’ve been happily using the orange, clear and darker Lenses for mtb with no issues.

Fwiw mine has a red tinge to it.

So a guy who posts on the forum asking for an alternative source of dodgy glasses intermittently sells ‘genuine’ versions of the same glasses. I think deep down you must know that you’ve sadly been conned, no matter how good the fakes are they’re still fakes. Hopefully this fella gets what he deserves, you’re not going to get a refund and if he just gets scared of here someone is going to get scammed on another forum.

Would have expected someone with his job to have a pretty good moral compass so perhaps this is all a big misunderstanding.

    Hi,

It looks like you’ve been ripped-off unfortunately, the box should have at least 1 sticker on it with a bar code and the frame and lense details the sticker, there should be another sticker detailing the importer – milano or similar.
Another issue is that Oakley don’t come with a cleaning cloth, as you use the microfibre bag.
I’ll send you photos of a genuine box and case if that’s any use for you?
