My neighbour came round before asking me to look at his brakes, there is no movement at the lever and pads are clamped to the rotor- any ideas?

if you took the wheel out was there level movement? How old are they? He could have taken water into the system if he’s had them a while, formulas need TLC – worth it, ace brakes, but ignore them at your peril.

THanks guys, I pretty much told him to take it to the LBS for them to sort 🙂

Before it gets taken in it might be worth, maybe, taking the pads out, cleaning around the pistons, pushing the pistons back in with a tyre lever, putting pads back in and seeing if it does it again?

Had identical problem – tried pushing pistons in but made no difference . My guess is take up of water means too much volume. As a temp fix I cached open the grub screw on the reservoir and let a bit of fluid out onto a rag ( but it still took off a bit of the handlebar coating 🙁
